Agfa Super Silette overhaul

by M. Feuerbacher, 2003.

This Super Silette had a stuck shutter and needed an overall CLA

Getting to the shutter is straightforward. When you remove the front-lens cell, mark the position in the thread at which the lens came loose. There is more than one possibility to get it back - be sure to be able to return it to the original state. The thread is left handed.

The second lens element is removed via the central barrel carrying the lens

To get to the back of the front lens, you have to remove the upper cover.
The viewfinder with the distance metering system can be taken off as a whole. Later on I have also removed the complete winding mechnism on the left to clean and lubricate it. Be careful to note how the return spring was wound originally
The shutter cocking system is found under it
The bottom cover also has to be removed. You have to get off the leatherette. No problem - it does not tend to tear
The film transport mechanism is as usual under the bottom cover. The two screws seen at the upper edge have to be removed to disassemble the body and the lens. Two corresponding screws are on the top of the body
The front can be taken off
The inner light cone is taken off. To remove the lens from the plate, open the outer screw
The lens with the shutter is competely removed now. You have full access for cleaning the shutter mechanism

This is how it looked like after the procedure...
