Agfa Clack

by M. Feuerbacher 2003

The Agfa Clack, in the US sold als "Agfa Weekender" is a box camera for the 6 x 9 format. It is built up very simple - obviously a low-end model, but for its purpose it works fine and reliable. The lens is a single element with a focal length of about 80 mm. The film plane is slightly curved to reduce aberrations and vignetting in the image corners.

The shutter is very simple, it provides a sinlge exposure time of approximately 1/60 s plus B. A cable release can be attached. There are two apertures for sunny (f/14) and cloudy (f/11) lighting conditions (corresponding symbols are shown on the lens barrel). For "close-up" pictures of 3 to 10 m, an additional lens can be swept in. Some models have a built-in yellow filter.

The Agfa Clack can be converted into an interesting pinhole camera.
